A New Chapter: Enhancing the Yorkshire Blinds & Curtains Website

website edits case study, Yorkshire Blinds by Hopwood Creative

Project Overview

Yorkshire Blinds & Curtains are a well-established, family-run business with over 25 years of experience supplying made-to-measure blinds and curtains across Yorkshire.

Following a change in ownership, the business was entering a new phase — bringing fresh ideas and a renewed focus on growth.

Rather than replacing the website entirely, the goal was to enhance and evolve the existing site to better reflect the business today and support future enquiries.

The Challenge

The foundations of the website were there but it wasn’t being used to its full potential.

Key opportunities included:

  • Making it easier for users to explore product options
  • Improving how the quality and range of products were presented
  • Creating more reasons for visitors to engage and enquire
  • Resolving technical issues that were impacting usability, trust, and accuracy

Our Approach

We focused on practical, high-impact improvements aimed at making  a real difference to how the website performs.

1. Enhancing Product Pages

One of the key updates was improving how products were presented.

We introduced:

  • Sample swatch sections on product pages, allowing users to visually explore available styles and finishes
  • Better structured layouts to make browsing easier and more engaging

This helps bridge the gap between online browsing and the in-home consultation experience.

2. Bringing the Brand to Life

To better reflect the day-to-day activity of the business, we integrated:

  • An Instagram feed on the homepage, showcasing recent work and installations

This adds:

  • Fresh, regularly updated content
  • Social proof through real customer projects
  • A more dynamic feel to the website

3. Strengthening Calls to Action

We refined how users take the next step by:

  • Making enquiry options clearer throughout the site
  • Positioning calls to action more prominently
  • Aligning the website journey with their real-world process (enquiry → consultation → installation)

4. Fixing Key Technical Issues

We also resolved underlying issues that were affecting both usability and credibility.

This included:

  • Fixing a Google Maps loading issue, ensuring visitors can reliably view the business location and directions
  • Updating the reviews feed, so the latest customer feedback is consistently pulled through and displayed on the site

These improvements help build trust by ensuring the website is both functional and up to date.

5. Improving Mobile Experience

We addressed usability across mobile devices, including:

  • Fixing logo display and responsiveness
  • Improving layout and spacing across key pages
  • Ensuring important actions remain easy to access on smaller screens

6. Building on What Was Already There

Rather than a full rebuild, this was about making the existing website work harder.

By layering in the right features and refinements, we created:

  • A more engaging browsing experience
  • A clearer path to enquiry
  • A platform that can continue to evolve with the business

The Result

The updated website now:

  • Gives users a better feel for the range and quality of products
  • Feels more current and aligned with the business today
  • Encourages more interaction through improved features and content
  • Displays up-to-date reviews, reinforcing trust and credibility
  • Removes friction caused by technical issues
  • Supports the new owner’s vision for growth

Most importantly, it demonstrates how targeted improvements can transform how a website performs  without starting from scratch.
